white, varsity-red and black.

A few days following graduation from high school, I awakened to discover a nicely packaged, double-boxed pair of Air Jordans solemnly resting on my doorstep. I returned to my room with the large box in my hands and carefully disposed of the shell surrounding the original box of my Air Jordan Retro II's from '04, white, varsity-red and black. I was extremely happy to see the diverging lines on the top of the box, revealing the face of the all-time great Michael Jordan. A few creases here and there, however, the shoes were in immaculate condition. I decided to pass on the 2010 retros of this particular Jordan and go for the primary retro. An overall good decision on my part. I guess I consider these shoes my grails because Jordan II's are my favorite Jordan although these are my very first pair of II's. I intentionally placed the School Daze DVD in the background because Edge had on the OG Jordan II's from '95. Extremely dope. I have yet to relinquish these onto the streets but when I do, you'll definitely notice.

Eastside Marauding.

Me, alongside my fellow members of La Familia, once again found ourselves marauding the hectic streets of the eastern part of Milwaukee. Beer bottles, soda cans, missing articles of clothing, small portions of vomit, as well as other various items littered the block. There seemed to be signs of some type of concert that may have taken place prior to our arrival or maybe even a celebration for the World Cup soccer games. Too bad we missed it. A majority of the locals on the east side exchanged awkward glances toward one another as we made our way around. Glances that signified, "why are these little kids walking around our parts?" or "they're not 21" and let's not forget, "where'd my other beer go?" We ignored these stares and tried to find something to embody ourselves into. I snapped a couple of mediocre shots with my camera I scooped up at a rummage sale. I even once tried to pull a James Bond-esque move into what seemed like an unguarded entryway to a club. I failed miserably as I encountered the masculine back of a well-trained security guard. There was no way I would get past him, let alone two other travelers. We concluded our night with a meal from the great Oakland Gyros; how I love that place.

I really need to invest in a new camera.

My Quarters.

This is where I spend most of my day. Inquiring through different blogs, searching for kicks and any other thing that piques my interest all happens on the screen of that there MacBook Pro. My desk consists of an unfinished art project, a couple of SLAM and Complex magazines, and some art software to transfer onto my laptop. Stickers acquired from various locations plaster the back of the MacBook, carefully placed as to not cover the illuminated Apple emblem.

Travis, Ashton.

My older brother is a junior at the renown, Howard University and he flew in to see his lil' bro graduate from high school before he hopped one back to DC. Whenever he comes to visit, he always drops knowledge he's gained from his experiences at Howard. Whether it be shoes, clothes, trends, life-lessons and music. This visit was a plethora of these subjects. I picked him up from the clearport (Jay-Z reference), we grabbed a bit of grub and headed back to the crib. He flipped open his lap-top and put me on to freshman Howard U artist, Ashton Travis. I'm definitely a fan of good music and Ashton Travis is just that. My brother's close friend at Howard, Superficial, produced a couple of dope tracks from Ashton's mixtape, Mr. Freshman 2.0. My favorite track has to be "Cruisin' On A Cloud," produced by Superficial. Both guys are talented so check 'em out yourself. Enjoy.

Nikes On My Feet.

I would like to begin this blog post by stating this video is too ill. I just recently took the time to actually listen to Mac Miller's highly accredited mixtape, The High Life, and I must say that this high school kid got some bars. He's truly on his grind balancing this music and the drama and turmoil that most high school seniors encounter. My friend insisted I check this guy out months ago, yet I never took his advice. Very well I should have. I like the way none of his lyrics are really forced; they just seem naturally like this is his true calling. I applaud him.

is it me or do HD cameras really make the video totally better? I concur.

Rose Garden.

So, recently, I was meandering through various websites and links one fine Saturday morning; rays of an approaching summer sun exuding through my window. I came across rapper, Shad. Shad hails from Kenya but was raised in London (the one in Canada). I was instantly impressed by the video below I am about to share with you; the creativity and overall execution of the video was amazing. The compelling beat added to Shad's wordplay delivers a mad dope track. After a long search, I wasn't able to find any of his music for "the free," instead you'll have to head over to iTunes to cop his latest work, TSOL, which I definitely plan on doing (as soon as that iTunes gift card arrives in the mail). Check the man out.

A Love Supreme.

No matter what...it is with God.
He is gracious and merciful.
His way is through love,
in which we all are.
It is truly-A Love Supreme-
